Cops 4 Kids and WPT® Foundation Charity Poker Tournament Raises $50,000 for Vegas Scholarships

On Friday, June 26, the Charity Series of Poker (CSOP) partnered once again with the Las Vegas Police Managers and Supervisors Association (LVPMSA) Charitable to host the annual Cops 4 Kids charity poker tournament, presented by the WPT® Foundation and LexisNexis Risk Solutions. The evening at The Stirling Club in Las Vegas raised $50,000 for local scholarships, continuing a partnership that keeps growing stronger each year.

A Night of Poker for a Good Cause

Guests kicked off the evening with a free poker lesson from CSOP President and Founder Matt Stout, giving newcomers a chance to sharpen their skills before the turbo Texas Hold’em tournament got underway. For a $300 buy-in (plus $100 rebuys and add-ons), players competed for a $3,000 grand prize, two $1,100 seats to the WPT Prime Championship donated by the World Poker Tour, and more than $10,000 in additional donated prizes.

For those who preferred to support the cause without playing a hand, a $100 cocktail hour donation opened the door to appetizers, a meet and greet, a 50/50 cash raffle, and a silent auction, with online bidding open to supporters anywhere in the world. Matt Savage kept the night moving as emcee, and the room welcomed a great mix of celebrity and poker world guests, including Shannon Elizabeth, Eric Singer, Mike Burkett, Aaron Goodwin, Sean Keith, Tony Dunst, Nikki Limo, Joey Ingram, and Shawn Rice.

Why This Partnership Matters

The connection between the WPT® Foundation and Cops 4 Kids started with a simple conversation. WPT CEO Adam Pliska has spoken about his father, a police officer who worked hard to put him through school, a story that struck a chord with the LVPMSA team and helped bring the WPT Foundation on board as a partner.

“Poker has always had the power to bring people together, and we’re excited to help turn that spirit into scholarships and opportunities for deserving students in the Las Vegas community,” said Adam Pliska, CEO of the World Poker Tour.

Since 2012, LVPMSA Charitable has awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships to local students, and this year’s event adds another $50,000 to that total.
