Las Vegas, November 22, 2024 – The inaugural Big Deal for One Drop charity poker tournament dazzled at Resorts World® Las Vegas during Big Race weekend, uniting celebrities, Formula 1 legends, poker professionals, and philanthropists for a cause greater than the game: raising funds to provide safe water access to communities in need.
Hosted at the stunning Allē Lounge on 66, the $10,000 buy-in event delivered an unforgettable afternoon filled with thrilling poker hands, high-energy competition, and spectacular views of the Las Vegas Strip. Organized by the One Drop® Foundation, Resorts World Las Vegas, and WPT® Foundation, the event seamlessly combined luxury, fun, and purpose.
Inaugural Event Draws Many Big Names
The tournament attracted an eclectic mix of participants, including racing icons David Coulthard, Martin Brundle, and Mika Häkkinen, actress Jennifer Tilly, and poker legends Phil Hellmuth and Antonio Esfandiari. Formula 1’s Otmar Szafnauer and former driver and first-time poker player Alex Wurz also joined the table, adding to the excitement. The event was emceed by Hellmuth with his signature charisma.
Guy Laliberté, founder of Cirque du Soleil and One Drop, called the event “a testament to the power of community and collaboration,” commending the attendees for their shared passion for making a difference.
Derek Adamian Takes the Crown
After an intense and fun competition, Derek Adamian emerged as the tournament champion. His victory earned him the ultra-exclusive Monaco Grand Prix Experience, including VIP race tickets and a reception at the Prince’s Palace. Other players on the final table included Guy Laliberté, Jennifer Tilly, and Alex Wurz. Runner-up Raphael Schreiner and others walked away with unique prizes such as VIP experiences at Formula 1 races, an exclusive Steve Aoki DJ booth experience, and a custom-etched ultra-limited-edition bottle of tequila.
A Cause Worth Playing For
The tournament raised much-needed funds for the One Drop Foundation’s mission to provide access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene worldwide. Since 2007, One Drop has transformed the lives of nearly three million people and continues its efforts around the world, but also in Nevada, through innovative events like the Big Deal for One Drop.
